A side-by-side preview shows the original and translated subtitles next to each other, line by line, so you can check every cue before downloading. Prefer to keep your file off the cloud? A private on-device mode translates entirely on your own machine.
How subtitle translation works
By default the tool sends each subtitle cue's text to Google Translate and writes the translation back into your file, keeping the original timing and formatting intact, the results stream into a side-by-side preview in seconds, each translation appearing next to its original line, with nothing to install. The text of your subtitles is sent to Google for translation; timings, file names, and the file itself never pass through our servers (we run none). If you turn on private mode, a compact AI model runs the translation entirely in your browser instead.
Your choice of privacy: by default, subtitle text is sent to Google Translate for the best quality (it never touches a SubtitleKit server). For fully offline, private translation, switch on on-device mode and nothing leaves your device.

Supported Languages
Translate between 100+ languages with Google Translate. The languages highlighted below also work in private, on-device mode, and the tool falls back to on-device automatically wherever Google Translate is unreachable.
Green = also available in private on-device mode (both directions). Gray = on-device into this language only. Every other language is available through the default Google Translate mode.

Is the subtitle translator really free?
Yes. The tool is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark, and no usage limits.
Is my subtitle file uploaded anywhere?
Your file itself is never uploaded to a SubtitleKit server, we operate none. In the default mode, the text of your subtitles is sent directly from your browser to Google Translate for translation, under Google's privacy policy. For fully offline translation, switch on private on-device mode, and nothing leaves your device at all.
What subtitle formats are supported?
It supports SRT, VTT, ASS, and other common timed-subtitle formats, drop a file and the translated version keeps the same format and timing.
What languages can I translate to?
100+ languages are available through the default Google Translate mode, from major world languages to regional ones. A smaller quality-tested set also works in private on-device mode; see the Supported Languages section above.
How accurate is the translation?
The default Google Translate mode produces fast, natural, high-quality results for most everyday and movie-style dialogue. Private on-device mode is more limited in quality and language coverage, use it when privacy matters most. As with any machine translation, review the result before publishing.
Can I see the original and translated subtitles side by side?
Yes: the preview shows every original line and its translation next to each other in two columns, filling in live as the translation runs. Cues that end up reading too fast or look incomplete are flagged for review, so you can check the result line by line before downloading.
Tips for the best results
Upload clean source subtitles: well-formed, correctly-timed cues translate most reliably.
<strong>Leave the source on "Auto detect"</strong>. Google identifies the language for you, so you only need to pick the target.
<strong>Need it fully private?</strong>: turn on on-device mode and your subtitle text never leaves your device (quality is lower than the default Google mode).
Review before publishing: machine translation can occasionally misjudge idioms or tone; skim the result before shipping it.
