About Getting SRT Files out of a ZIP
Subtitle sites like OpenSubtitles, SubDL and Subsource hand out subtitles as .zip files, often in a format your player does not read. Drop the ZIP here and every subtitle file inside comes out as SRT, without unzipping anything first. The archive is opened in your browser and never uploaded.
What Comes Out of the Archive
Every .srt, .vtt, .ass, .ssa, .sub, .sbv, .smi or .ttml file inside the ZIP is converted to SRT and listed as its own result. Download them one at a time, or all together as a new zip.
From ZIP to SRT Files
- Drop the .zip: drag it onto the upload area, or click to browse
- Let it unpack: each subtitle file inside is found and converted to SRT
- Check the results: step through the files and look at any of them before saving
- Download: save one file, or all of them as a zip
What gets skipped
Images, readme and other .txt files, system folders like __MACOSX and archives inside the archive are left out. Image-based subtitles (a VobSub .idx and .sub pair) are not read here. Up to 200 subtitle files are taken from one ZIP, and each one can be up to 10 MB. The ZIP itself can be up to 50 MB, and the subtitle files from one drop can add up to 100 MB.
Subtitle Packs This Works With
A Whole Season at Once
A season pack holds a subtitle file per episode. Drop the one ZIP and every episode comes out as SRT, named after its original file.
A Pack in the Wrong Format
The ZIP you found holds .ass or .vtt files, and your TV or player wants SRT. They are converted on the way out.
Just One Subtitle File, Zipped
Many downloads are a single subtitle inside a ZIP. Drop it as is and save the .srt, with no unzipping step in between.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did my subtitles download as a .zip?
Subtitle sites pack files into a ZIP so one download can hold several languages or a whole season. Drop that ZIP here as it is.
Do I need to unzip the file first?
No. Drop the .zip itself and it is opened here, in your browser.
What if the ZIP holds .ass or .vtt instead of .srt?
They are converted to SRT on the way out, so you never need a second tool.
What if the ZIP has two files with the same name in different folders?
Both are converted, and each one is named after its folder too, for example S01_episode1.srt and S02_episode1.srt, so the downloads never overwrite each other.
Can it open .rar or .7z archives?
Not yet; only .zip is supported. Extract other archive types on your computer and drop the subtitle files themselves.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It runs in a mobile browser, so a downloaded pack can become SRT without an unzip app.
Is the archive uploaded anywhere?
No. The ZIP is opened and converted on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
Before You Save the SRT Files
If a file in the pack fails, its row says why. The other files still convert, and you can download them without it.
Download all gives you a fresh zip of SRT files with the same names, ready to drop next to your videos.
